Norwich City signing focusing on avoiding injury – Not obsessed with contract situation

Emiliano Marcondes joined Norwich City last week as a free agent, having seen his Bournemouth contract expire at the end of June.

Other moves didn’t work out for the midfielder, which meant Marcondes was then encouraged to reunite with his former manager Johannas Thorup, who worked with the Dane during their time together at Nordsjaelland.

Thorup had mentioned previously that he was in close contact with Marcondes and the relationship between the two seems to be a key reason for the move going through.

Marcondes has now spoken about his plans at Norwich City and how things have been so far.

He told TipsBladet, reflecting on his fitness right now: “Now I have to focus on getting back in proper fighting shape. I actually feel in really good athletic shape.

“I’ve been training a lot without playing matches, so that’s (getting injured) the last thing I need. That’s what I have to focus on.”
The 29-year-old signed an initial deal at Carrow Road which lasts until the end of the season, and in the interview, he also insisted obsessed with that contract situation.

“So my focus is not to get injured and take the days as they come. I don’t look too far into the future and don’t think about contracts and so on.”

The club have the option to extend his deal by another year but for that to be triggered, they would definitely have to see the Dane impress.

He came on against Hull City at the weekend and while it remains to be seen if he plays often under Thorup, Norwich have a host of attacking midfield options right now.

Marcondes faces a fight ahead of him, and appears to be up for it.
