Suns Primed to Make Mid-December Monte Morris Decision - Last Word On Basketball

Golden State Warriors working on 3-team trade involving Jonathan Kuminga

During their heyday, it felt like the Golden State Warriors were nearly unbeatable with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson forming the Splash Brothers. While Curry’s limitless range is still on full display nearly every time the future first-ballot Hall of Famer takes the floor, the Warriors have a lot of roster work to do before returning to championship contender status. That includes determining the future of Jonathan Kuminga.

While Curry and Jimmy Butler form a strong core that rivals many others, the Warriors are still working on finalizing the rest of their roster. One of the biggest remaining challenges is figuring out whether they’ll retain Kuminga, who’s a restricted free agent.

However, according to multiple reporters out of NBC Bay Area, the Warriors are currently working on a three-time sign-and-trade that would send Kuminga to the Sacramento Kings.

Dennis Schroder would also be headed to the Kings after inking a three-year, $45 million contract. Meanwhile, the Kings would send Malik Monk to the Detroit Pistons along with former first-round pick Devin Carter, Dario Saric, and two second-round picks.

While unloading Kuminga isn’t ideal, this trade gives the Warriors a chance to recuperate some compensation for their top free agent instead of seeing him leave and get nothing in return.
