West Ham Source Claims Significant Interest in Midfielder Who Can Make a Difference
West Ham United ITK ExWHUEmployee has dropped his latest update—and it seems as though the Hammers are soon to ramp up their transfer activity across several positions.
Ex was first to report West Ham’s interest in Malick Diouf and also broke the story of Kyle Walker-Peters turning down a move to Beşiktaş in favour of signing for the London Stadium club.
The Irons insider has now confirmed Claret & Hugh’s earlier news that the club plans to keep Nayef Aguerd—and has added Edson Álvarez to the list of players expected to remain this summer.
However, what really caught my attention was Ex’s claim that West Ham hold significant interest in Southampton’s Matheus Fernandes.
Because while we’ve been linked with all manner of players in a variety of positions, Fernandes is very much the type of central midfielder this club needs.
Tyler Morton looks like a promising player—I was impressed with what I saw of him during England’s U21 Euro campaign—but Fernandes is ready now. He proved last season that he’s more than capable of performing at Premier League level
The Portugal U21 international turned 21 last week, so he has youth on his side, but he’s also ready to play in West Ham’s first team immediately. The more I watch him, the more I like what I see. He’s skilful, technically sound, and has the work rate to contribute defensively—something essential in our current midfield setup.
Of course, it’s exciting to be linked with flair players like Harvey Elliott, Jack Grealish, and Omari Hutchinson—but the engine room still needs urgent attention. I’m delighted to hear that the club remain firmly interested in Fernandes.
