BBC Journalist: Everton ‘Advancing’ in Talks to Sign ‘Special’ Star
Everton are advancing in talks to sign Southampton winger Tyler Dibling, with the England youth international currently training away from the senior squad, according to BBC journalist Sami Mokbel.
Dibling has risen to fame over the last few years after an impressive stint with now-relegated Southampton in the Premier League. The young talent showed glimpses of being a phenomenal talent, despite playing in a side who will go down as one of the worst in history in England’s top flight.
Southampton managed to accumulate just 12 points during the campaign, narrowly beating Derby County’s record. Dibling is far from the finished product, but at the age of 18, he showed plenty of ability that has attracted the interest of a host of clubs around Europe. After suffering relegation down to the Championship, Dibling could be looking for a move back to the Premier League.
Reporting for the BBC, journalist Mokbel has claimed that Everton are ‘advancing’ in talks to sign Southampton star Dibling. Dibling, dubbed ‘special’ by GOAL, has been withdrawn from full contact training at Southampton to ensure an injury doesn’t hamper a potential transfer for the youngster.
David Ornstein previously reported that Southampton sent a counter-offer to Everton for Dibling, demanding a fee which would total in the region of £50m, inclusive of add-ons. The Saints want to include a sell-on clause of 25%, with Everton also exploring other targets alongside the England youth international.
With both sides clearly willing to complete a deal, it looks as though this is a move which is likely to happen. Southampton are trying to protect their asset by not allowing him to play, and Everton have submitted multiple offers to secure his signature.
