Leicester City urged against striking Leeds United transfer deal – “It shows how far the club has fallen

Leicester City have their sights set on Sam Greenwood, with the 23-year-old seemingly deemed surplus to requirements at Leeds United.

Greenwood has featured just twice at Elland Road since Daniel Farke took over as manager in 2023, and has spent the last two seasons on loan at Middlesbrough and Preston North End.

With just a year left on his Leeds contract, the Mail Online are reporting that the Foxes are interested in bringing in the former Arsenal and Sunderland youth product.

However, this has ruffled the feathers of plenty of Leicester supporters, and FLW’s Foxes fan pundit, Louchlainn Martin, fully understands why.

“This team was once bringing in the likes of Youri Tielemans and James Maddison, and now they’re linked with Sam Greenwood. It just goes to show how far the club has fallen.”

Less than a decade ago, the King Power Stadium was hosting Champions League football. Now, they’re preparing for a second season in the second tier in three years, and are currently in financial limbo after being charged with an alleged breach of the EFL’s financial rules.

But despite all this, Martin still feels that his club can aim higher than Sam Greenwood.

He continued: “With all due respect to the guy, he creates chances, and he’s scored a hatful of goals, but for me, we can do a lot better, even with the rot we seem to be in at the moment with potential points deductions.

“There are better options out there in Europe, even in some of the smaller leagues that would be better than Greenwood.”
