League One Heavyweights in For Stoke City Forward After 25-Goal Contribution Campaign
Stoke City forward Nathan Lowe was always going to be a target for ambitious EFL clubs after his exploits on loan at Walsall and his lack of minutes when subsequently returning to the Championship outfit in the second half of last season.
The 19-year-old was a key component of the Walsall side that stormed clear in League Two in the first half of the 2024/25 campaign. Lowe played a total of 30 times for the Saddlers, scoring 18 goals and providing seven assists in all competitions.
The forward has played 27 times for Stoke City since his debut in 2023.
Exciting Forward Stars in League Two
Few superlatives are appropriate for the level that Lowe reached while on loan at Walsall last season. However, any supporter who followed the club’s decline from when their star player departed will be able to vouch for his importance to the promotion candidates.
Lowe ranked in the top eight for goals in the fourth tier at the end of the season despite being recalled in January by parent club Stoke City. His record of 15 goals was all the more impressive considering none of his strikes were from the penalty spot. No player in the Walsall squad came close to his record of 2.7 shots per game and 1.4 efforts on target when the season finished with defeat in the play-offs.
The exciting prospect was a threat from anywhere within shooting range, and he should be disappointed to have not received regular playing time upon his return to the Championship. That may not be a concern for the new season, as League One clubs are interested in signing the player on loan.
