Panthers Announce Six Moves Ahead Of First Game.

The Carolina Panthers had a dismal 2023 NFL season, though there’s a renewed sense of optimism for the franchise heading into the 2024 NFL campaign after making some much-needed moves both on and off the field.

The Panthers overhauled their coaching staff, bringing in Dave Canales to serve as head coach, while also giving quarterback Bryce Young more support on offense.

Carolina invested in its offensive line and receiving corps, two areas that struggled last season.

Young is hoping to prove that he was the right choice at No. 1 overall in the 2023 NFL Draft, and the early returns on the revamped offense have been fruitful as reports came out of training camp that the quarterback looked more confident.

That will be put to the test in Week 1 when Carolina takes on the NFC South rival New Orleans Saints.

Ahead of their opener, the Panthers announced several roster moves.

“Ian Thomas placed on injured reserve, among other moves,” the team said on X.

Ian Thomas has been sidelined since the early part of training camp due to a calf injury and the veteran tight end will now miss at least the first four games of the season.

Meanwhile, Carolina also waived cornerback Keenan Isaac, who was claimed off waivers after NFL roster cutdown day last month.

With two open roster spots, the Panthers elevated tight end Feleipe Franks and defensive tackle Jayden Peevy from their practice squad.

They also elevated running back Mike Boone and cornerback Lonnie Johnson to the active roster.
