Tottenham, Fraser Forster

Tottenham told to sign new goalkeeper after ‘complete madness’ by Fraser Forster.

John Wenham wants Tottenham to sign a replacement for Fraser Forster in January.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has slammed the goalkeeper after his performance in the 2-1 win away at Coventry City (18 September).

Forster wasn’t at his best in the third round of the Carabao Cup, with Ben Davies’ heroics bailing him out after a poor mistake.

And Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – thinks the North London side need to reconsider Forster’s position at the club in January.

“I think that might need to be something which is evaluated in January,” Wenham said.

“Forster was really poor against Coventry City. There was that moment where he rushed out and crashed into Radu Drăgușin.

“Davies then had to run back and the clear the ball off the line. That was complete madness.

“Therefore, I just think in January the club need to be targeting a brand-new goalkeeper. Someone who can actually come in and challenge Guglielmo Vicario.”

Tottenham to replace Fraser Forster in January?
Wenham isn’t the only person who has given up on Forster, with ex-Tottenham scout Bryan King also calling for the 36-year-old to be replaced.

It hasn’t been the finest couple of weeks for Spurs’ goalkeepers, with Vicario also struggling in recent times.

However, he is no doubt still seen as the number one in North London. As a result, despite recent transfer speculation surrounding him, it is unlikely he will be going anywhere.

Instead, he could even push to sign a new deal with the club.

Therefore, any goalkeeper who is signed would be brought into the club as a backup for the Italian.

Forster has demonstrated that he might not be cut out for that role anymore. Should Vicario get injured, Spurs will need someone that they can trust to take his place.

In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy could dilute funds available in North London as a multi-club model is mooted.
