Norwich City provide the next test for Preston North End, who are back at Deepdale on Tuesday night.

The Lilywhites saw off Coventry City last weekend, while the Canaries drew one apiece at Stoke City. It’s now on to the midweek meeting in Lancashire, with Paul Heckingbottom’s team having climbed to 15th in the table – while the visitors occupy 7th spot heading into the fixture.

Ahead of kick-off, here’s the team news from both camps!

Preston North End
The Lilywhites have lost another first team regular to injury, with Brad Potts joining Will Keane on the sidelines. The number 44 took a whack in the trip to Burnley, before the international break, and has seen that issue flare up – despite finishing the game at Turf Moor. Club captain Ben Whiteman is back from his suspension, though.

As for front man Keane, he will be missing for a few more weeks with Heckingbottom having stressed the importance of not rushing the striker back. Another absentee is Patrick Bauer, who has undergone surgery on his elbow after suffering the blow at home to Fulham. Player-coach, Ched Evans – who had a loan spell at Norwich in 2007/08 – is also out injured.

The Canaries will be without influential midfielder, Marcelino Nunez, after he injured his hamstring in the trip to Stoke. The Chilean suffered the same injury prior to the international break and will ‘definitely’ miss the next two games. One of Anis Ben Slimane, Oscar Schwartau or Amankwah Forson may come in.

Norwich boss, Johannes Hoff Thorup said: “The way that Nacho has been playing with his quality, with his confidence and his form, it’ll be difficult to replace him one-to-one. So, we have to choose one of the others and find the best possible role for him.

“We try to look at it in a different way, and see what do we have in terms of options at the moment, and to try to make a role that fits that as perfectly as possible for the player that we choose. That’s the way to look at it.”

Fellow midfielder Jacob Sorensen is also back fit and has travelled to Lancashire with the squad – but Thorup explained he is not ready to start yet. The Canaries will also be without winger Christian Fassnacht due to an Achilles injury, while goalkeeper Angus Gunn is absent with a side strain.
