Ellis Simms – the problem or the solution to Coventry City’s woes Fans have been discussing their ideal Sky Blues squad ahead of tonight’s trip to QPR – and they want improvements from midfield.

Coventry City go to Queen’s Park Rangers tonight (8pm kick-off) as both sides look to end a troubled run – and CoventryLive readers in our comments section want to see improvements in one key part of the pitch by the Sky Blues.

City need all three points to settle the nerves of players and fans after two wins from 10 in the Championship so far. They have typically been low scoring so far and need to find ways to take the chances they’re given. Readers think more could be done to provide good service up front, particularly to Ellis Simms, who ended last season with 13 goals.

CoventryLive’s Andy Turner gave his predicted lineup in a 3-4-1-2 formation as Oliver Dovin; Bobby Thomas, Joel Latibeaudiere, Luis Binks; Milan van Ewijk, Josh Eccles, Ben Sheaf, Jay Dasilva; Jack Rudoni; Brandon Thomas-Asante and Haji Wright.

But Reader Pb1948 asks: “Why do you predict a team with Simms, Dasilva and Eccles? I agree with Sakamoto, Tavares and Wright playing. l think it’s Robins’ last spin of the dice, he doesn’t know which formation and best team selection.”

Commenter Thankyoujohnsillett says: “Torp instead of Eccles. At least he has a shot on him. Wright must play the 90.”

Covcovcov22 adds: “I don’t like criticising any City players but can anybody tell me what Simms brings to the party? It’s almost like starting with 10 men.”

Another reader, going by the name of Hadji, believes the club aren’t getting the best out of Simms. He writes: “He is ok, but like everyone has lost his self belief. I had to watch with envy when Pep goes onto the pitch after games and discusses things with his boys. Actually playing out what he thinks they could have done, right in front of everyone. I find Robins uninspiring. Where is his man management? Almost a mute on the side line.”
