Coventry City goalkeeper update as injury details emerge ahead of Luton Town.

Coventry City injury news from CoventryLive as Mark Robins assesses his goalkeepers ahead of Saturday’s CBS Arena match with Luton Town.

Mark Robins has provided an injury update on Ben Wilson ahead of Coventry City’s CBS Arena clash with Luton Town.

The goalkeeper sat out the last two games, at Preston North End and QPR, and is again a doubt for Saturday’s 12.30pm kick-off with the Hatters. Wilson had come back into the side and played three Championship games before suffering a knee injury against Sheffield Wednesday just before the last international break.

Asked how he is, the Sky Blues manager said: “He’s OK, just recovering from a ligament tweak.”

As for whether he’s likely to be back fit before the next international break in four games’ time, Robins added: “I don’t know. We have to wait and see. You can put a time limit on things but he’ll be ready when he’s ready. I don’t think I can give you an exact date. I’d like him to come back when he’s ready to get through a programme of work to get back onto the grass and train again.”

Robins, meanwhile, has given his backing to Oliver Dovin following the stopper’s midweek mistake at Loftus Road when the manager felt he should have done better to make the save for QPR’s equalising goal.

Asked if the Sweden international’s confidence has been affected by the other night, Robins said: “No, it won’t affect him. He’s really focused and single minded, and whilst he will be disappointed, and we’re all disappointed with the result the other night, people make mistakes.

“There are mitigating circumstances for everything, but when you are pushing to get results you are looking for almost perfection, and it doesn’t happen. People make mistakes, it happens in games and you have to try to mitigate against that as much as you can by working hard for your teammates and as a team. But it won’t affect his confidence.

“If you don’t experience these things, how do you learn? You learn from setbacks and while it is difficult to go through them, you need to learn from them as you go through them. You have to work things out, not block things out and take on board what’s happening, why it’s happening and what we can do to put that right for next time.”
